FET # 3: CD6

March 2, 2018

Today is cycle day 6 for our third frozen embryo transfer. The only medication that I'm on right now is estradiol and I'm taking it twice a day. The plan is to recheck ultrasound and blood work next weekend and then go from there. If all looks good then the transfer should be scheduled a week out from then. I know from past experience though to NEVER count on things going according to plan.

Last October we had our second embryo transfer, which was unsuccessful. Honestly I think that I was a little too confident about that round. It took us two tries to get the girls and my thought process was well, then we will get pregnant on our first try this time! I already know that I can get pregnant so I felt like it was going to be easy. I  didn't really prepare myself mentally or physically for the whole process. My attitude was nonchalant.

When we didn't get pregnant I of course second guessed EVERYTHING that I did. Should I have stopped drinking coffee, was I too stressed, did I do too much after the transfer? I had been having this itchy rash on my eyes the weeks prior to our transfer and frantically emailed my fertility doctor weeks afterwards asking her if she thought that may have caused us to not get pregnant. She replied kindly but I'm sure she wanted to say, "crazy lady, stop freaking out."

This time around I have made my lists of things that I want to do to facilitate a healthy, viable pregnancy. I know that you can do everything "right" and still not end up pregnant due to an abnormal embryo or a million other reasons that we don't even know but what I have learned is that you have to have peace with yourself.

My list this time is:
  • fertility yoga poses prior to transfer
  • take all my vitamins
  • watch something funny after the transfer
  • eat pineapple starting day of transfer and 4 days after
  • keep feet warm after transfer
  • drink warm drinks after transfer
  • guided meditations throughout the process
  • relax the day of and day after transfer
I'm hoping that we get pregnant this time around and have a healthy, happy baby this December. Only time will tell but I'm feeling optimistic.
